You laugh because I'm different, I laugh because you're the same.

Once Had

Author's Note:
I was playing around with different amounts of lines in each stanza in this poem.  I would appreciate comments on whether it was still readable.

I wish that you could see
That we were wrong
I wish that you could see
That everything we had once is gone

No more memories
To fight
Forever long
Until tonight
I hoped that we
Could make this right
But it's gone
It's out of sight

Our blindness from
These flashing lights
Was struck down
No longer high
I just want to make
This right
But after all
At least I tried

We hate each other
All the time
I know from
Your plastic smiles
Our happiness
Has been a while
I know this hatred
Isn't mild

Shake it off
The best that you can
Leave it in your
Other hand
Cause I know that
I can't stand
You blew me off
Just like a fan

I know this from
Our throwing plates
Our constant lack
Of any dates
I now know that
This wasn't fate
And that we are
A little late

We're in trouble
And I know it
I just wish
We could've shown it
And now we've
Gone and blown it

All this nonsense
For a boy and girl
All this trouble
Spinning in a whirl

But you are what I want
You have all of it and more
And I just can't help
You are what I adore

I hate this new found
Lack of you
It's what I do not
Have of you
I just wish I'd stop
Coming back to you.
