Craters on the Moon

I decided to chose this topic because it interested me from last year. Also I am focusing on sentence structure on the writing rubric.

How Moon Craters Are Formed

Moon craters come from aliens that just seem to hate the moon. Myth. They come from asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. Since the moon doesn't have an atmosphere the rocks can't be stopped. Also the moon doesn't have any erosion either, so the craters never go away. The kind of crater that makes indents are called impact craters. Then there are two kinds of impact craters; simple and complex craters. There are millions of craters on the moon. Craters range in size, too. Finally, low elevation areas, or maria, have less craters.

Firstly, let's get one thing straight, moon craters come from asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. Nothing else. Period. Lot's of people mistake craters for erosion. Though it's not. The moon doesn't even have erosion, since the air is so dry. Overall the moon is like age, the craters keep coming, like how many years old we are, and they never go away. Since we can't be younger then what we are.

Impact craters are the kind of craters that we normally think of. Simple impact crate have bowl shaped depressions, mostly with smooth walls. This type of crater generally has a diameter less than 9 miles. Their depth is about 20% of their diameter. Complex impact craters have a single or multiple peaks in the middle of the crater. These craters have diameters between about 12 and 110 miles, and the central uplift is usually one or a few peaks. Craters with a diameter over 110 miles can have more complex, ring-shaped uplifts within the crater.To summarize the craters on the moon can very in size greatly.

Maria, or low elevation areas, have less craters because since they are lower the craters don't have as great of an impact on them. Also, there are millions of craters on the moon. The craters most people know are the face on the moon. It's really just a lot of craters and shadows. All in all, the moon is very different in landscape, not as much as earth, but still a little.
