In the Golden Days

Madonna was a legend
And Nirvana was a star
U2 was a band
You had tapes for in your car

MTV still had some music
Not just Jersey Shore
There were classic movies
Not like I Am Number Four

Being Irish was important
And people still went to pubs
When there were neon leggings
And the Red Hat Club

When game shows were on radios
And no one ended lives
When people loved their spouses
Not some plastic Barbie Wives

And then there are those songs
That no one really knows the words
People sang them anyway
And everyone dressed like nerds

Also they had little things
Like good ol' General Stores
Not just grandé sized Starbucks
And Walmart Superstores
